Celebrating Automobilia!

Before I begin, let me get down to the concept of an auto jumble. The principle of the event is simple. It offers a platform for enthusiasts and collectors to come across and hold an exhibition cum sale of Vintage and Classic cars and bikes, deal in parts, accessories, services and also offer a solid level of automobilia, antiques and automotive art. People are free to browse through the wares, haggle for prices or just even make barter deals! Coupled with great food and music, the atmosphere can best be described as an amazing petrol induced high.

The HMCI Auto Jumble happens to be the only such event to take place in India and in its fourth year the show has definitely grown in proportion. This year there were over 100 stalls that displayed everything from vintage vehicle parts, age old advertisements, vintage accessories that even included badges for Rolls-Royce cars, Auto Union and Austin, a number of car and bike related books, a stall dedicated to vintage cameras and there was even a stall displaying vintage furniture!

Walking amongst the stalls was like a trip down memory lane. With old carburetors and almost prehistoric looking turbochargers available for some fancy old cars, to browsing through the automobile inspired artwork and vintage advertisements, or stumbling on to a vintage VW Beetle engine up for sale, you could find yourself getting lost in an era bygone. Further to this car collectors had the opportunity to interact with specialists who offer specially built parts for vintage vehicles from radiators to upholstery and even customized paint.

On the whole, the auto jumble is a festival of surprises. If you are a collector, you never know what you may find that suits your needs and if you just happen to be an avid enthusiast, then the goods and wares on display will fuel your passion to greater heights.
