MG Gloster Teased Ahead Of Diwali 2020 Launch, Focus On Semi-Autonomous Tech

Teaser of the production-spec Gloster reveals parallel parking assist among other features officially seen for the first time

  • The Gloster will feature level 1 autonomous technology capable of parallel parking assistance among other things.

  • Previous teaser suggested Gloster will offer segment-first adaptive cruise control and autonomous braking.

  • It will most likely be powered by 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and twin turbo-diesel engines with an 8-speed AT as standard.

  • Other features include a semi-digital instrument cluster, tailgate sensor, and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech.

MG Gloster, the carmaker's fourth offering in the country after the Hector, ZS EV, and Hector Plus, is nearing its Diwali launch this year. The British carmaker has now dropped another teaser, revealing quite a few features with the highlight being the level 1 autonomous tech park assist. 

Featured as the crux of the teaser video, the Gloster’s parking assist will find the right-sized spot for parking and take control of the steering wheel while you manually operate only the gearstick and pedals. 

The teaser video showcases a few more features that will be available in the Gloster, such as a tailgate sensor, semi-digital instrument cluster, and a touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology. The teaser also showcases the production-spec vehicle's interiors, focusing on the beige diamond-pattern upholstery and captain seats in the middle row.

The full-sized SUV could be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, producing 224PS and 215PS respectively. An 8-speed automatic transmission will likely be offered as standard for the diesel unit and a 6-speed AT for the petrol one.

Entering the market as a rival to the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4, the Gloster is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 40-45 lakh (ex-showroom).
