Yamaha SZ-R
Yamaha's grand entry into the commuter motorcycle segment in India was christened by its stylish SZ-X model. Powered by a 150cc engine mated to a 5-speed transmission, the SZ-X was a bold move by Yamaha, and since its launch in August 2010 the stylish-commuter bike has been quite well-received by the masses.
Positioned to give competition to the Bajaj Discover 150 and the Honda CB Unicorn, the SZ-X was a well conceived bike for the otherwise bland looking commuter segment, but had a few missing pieces in its otherwise sporty exterior.
The launch of the SZ-R model has addressed just that by adding front disc brakes, a tachometer and a tank protector added to its fuel tank to make the bike appear even larger. Furthermore, its tail will sport an aerodynamic spoiler that extends out boldly and is given the same silver coloring as the side covers. The bike also has clear lens flasher, colored handle grip end bar, painted muffler end caps along with special graphics.
Commenting on the launch of Yamaha's newer and sportier SZ-R model, Mr. Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO & Managing Director, India Yamaha Motor said, "The SZ-R gives the 150cc commuters segment a sporty edge apart from delivering Power, Comfort and Style. SZ series bikes have high demand and are gaining popularity across India. Customers have been demanding inclusion of the disc brake version, which is now available in SZ-R. We are confident that our new bike models will once again capture the hearts of our customers and will further consolidate our position in the market."
The new Yamaha SZ-R is priced at Rs. 55,500/- (Ex-showroom price - Delhi) and will be available in 3 color options – Quality Black, Quality Red and Quality Blue.
Yamaha FZ1
The newly launched FZ1 on the other hand is all about power and personality. Yamaha's first naked sports bike with fuel-injected power and 'Pure Torque' is built to provide the ultimate riding experience.
A power packed sports bike with a compact design and 998cc DOHC 20-valve engine has been tuned for tremendous mid-range punch and massive top-end power. Prominent features of the bike include an analog tachometer, digital speedometer, dual trip meter, odometer, water temperature and lights for neutral, high beam, low fuel and turn signals.
The FZ1's dual 12V 60/55 watt multi-reflector headlight features a sleek profile for superb aerodynamics and visibility. The FZ1 is now available in India in 2 color options - Black and White at an ex-showroom price (Delhi) of Rs. 8,70,000.
With the launch of FZ1 and SZ-R, Yamaha has ended the year 2010 in style and left all its customers one last 'Christmas Gift.'
