The SUV gets minor visual tweaks; chassis and drive-train remain untouched

Hindustan Motors Limited launched an upgraded version of the popular Mitsubishi Montero with some new features, enhancing the design and ambience quotient of the sturdy SUV.

The new features on the Montero include a muscular coloured front bumper, chrome radiator grille with what looks like bi-xenon light panels at both ends, a new finish on power-window panel and new stitch design on leather seats. The minor changes have added a small but noteworthy pep to the design of the premium vehicle. Also, the newly introduced interior illumination lends a more chic ambience to the Montero.

The Montero features a 3,200cc DOHC diesel engine with an intercooler and a turbocharger, putting out 202PS at 3,800rpm and 441Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. The torquey engine continues to provide the vehicle formidable power. The SUV is available in solid white, black mica and cool silver metallic shades.

The Mitsubishi Montero shares a vast history with the Paris Dakar rally. It made its debut at the Paris Dakar Rally in 1983 bagging first place in 1985 in just its third attempt. To date, the Montero has been the most successful vehicle in the Dakar Rally in its class, winning seven of the last 10 races, and 15 of the full 32 races.

The Mitsubishi Montero retails at Rs. 41,34,000 ex-showroom Delhi.
