Launched as two variants – Avior AMX and Avior AFX for both male and female riders respectively, the e-cycles will be available at a price of Rs 19,290 (on-road Delhi) for the Avior AMX and Rs 18,990 (on-road Delhi) for the Avior AFX.
The e-cycles will be available at all five metros initially but prices may be Rs 3000-4000 more expensive in other cities since the Delhi government has provided 15 per cent subsidy and 0 per cent VAT on the environment friendly bicycles.
“I am very bullish about this product. These e-cycles bridge the gap between traditional bicycles and the entry-level scooters in the price range. We are confident that this will be accepted well by customers as a mass transport product,” Hero Eco Group Managing Director Naveen Munjal said.
Equipped with 6-speed Shimano gears, the e-cycle has an electric motor powered by sealed lead acid batteries which can be charged in 5-6 hours. The batteries come with a one-year warranty and will have a life of about 14 months on pure battery usage. Replacement batteries will cost less than Rs 2,000.
The technology on the Avior e-cycles has been scaled down from Hero Eco’s other global products, particularly the A2B brand which has seen considerable success in developed markets overseas.
“With the expected growth in the Indian EV industry, we are thrilled to introduce leading global technology to our patrons. With this new product, we hope to take the cycling experience to the next level with the added comfort of Avior e-cycles,” Hero Electric Global Business CEO Sohinder Gill said.
The e-cycles will initially be available in all the five metros but will be gradually introduced in other cities and smaller towns as well.
