The refreshed BMW 5 Series has been launched in India with styling enhancements and added equipment. Prices for the refreshed 5 Series range from Rs 46.9 lakh to Rs 57.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
Unveiled earlier in 2013 in Europe, the updated BMW 5 Series luxury sedan has now been launched in India consisting of four variants, namely, 520d Modern, 520d Luxury, 525d Luxury Plus and 530d M Sport. Prices for the refreshed 5 Series range from Rs. 46.9 lakh for the 520d to Rs. 57.9 lakh for the 530d M Sport both prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
The face-lifted BMW 5 Series has been refreshed with exterior styling enhancements such as new headlamps, a restyled front bumper with new circular fog lamps and redesigned air intakes, integrated turn indicators in the rear view mirrors, revised tail lamps and a new rear bumper with larger reflectors while the two tail pipes are now located at either side of the car. The face-lifted BMW 5 Series also gets a new design for the alloy wheels.
The equipment list of the refreshed BMW 5 Series includes Xenon headlamps as standard while adaptive LED headlights are optional, the car also gets LED fog lamps. Inside, the infotainment system screen now gets chrome borders, there is a new ambient cabin lighting option, another optional feature allows the boot to be opened when a foot is placed under the rear bumper.
Under the hood of the new 5 Series the range of engine options include the company’s 2.0 litre four-cylinder diesel motor and the 3.0 litre six cylinder diesel engine. In the 520d the 2.0 litre engine develops 186PS of power and 380Nm of torque, giving the car a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 231 km/h. The 2.0 litre motor is tuned to develop 221PS of power and 450Nm of torque in the 525d, allowing the car to go from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 243 km/h. The 3.0 litre engine in the 530d develops 261PS of power and 540Nm of torque, the 530d M Sport can go from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and top speed is pegged at 250 km/h.
BMW’s latest avatar of the 5 Series continues to battle rivals such as the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar XF and the Volvo S80 in India.
