BMW informed us about their ambitious plans of launching their baby SUV, the X1 last month, when they achieved the milestone figure of 10,000 Beemers of the production line at their Chennai plant. And as always the luxury car maker has kept its word, and now brings the youngest member of its SUV offering, the bold and compact BMW X1 to India.
Though smaller in its overall proportions as compared to the chunkier X3 and X5 models, the X1 is all poised to introduce the next derivative of the X-model line-up here in India. With key styling cues from its bigger sibling the X5, the X1 canvases a fairly rugged build with no extra kilos making it dynamic and a great overall package for genuine softroader enthusiasts here in India.
The new BMW X1 was launched in New Delhi in three variants: BMW X1 sDrive18i (petrol), BMW X1 sDrive20d (diesel) and BMW X1 sDrive20d Exclusive (diesel) and can now be ordered at BMW dealerships across India.
Speaking on the launch Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW India said, "The new BMW X1 is a modern vehicle that for the first time brings premium BMW characteristics into the compact vehicle segment. The new BMW X1 sets a benchmark by bringing together features of a Sports Activity Vehicle with spontaneous flexibility and outstanding fuel economy. The new BMW X1 is the perfect vehicle for customers focusing on areas such as leisure activities and lifestyle in their choice of car."
The new BMW X1 will be CKD (completely knocked-down unit) produced in India and the all India ex-showroom prices are as follows -
