BMW has launched the M6 Gran Coupe in India at Rs 1.75 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The four door coupe is the M division version of the 6-series Gran Coupe. The M6 is based on the M5 sedan platform and sports the same engine too.
Powering the M6 Gran Coupe is the 4.4-litre V8 with two twin-scroll turbos that produce 560PS between 6,000 to 7,000rpm and 680Nm of torque in a long range of 1,500-5,750rpm. Although the M6 Gran Coupe shares the same engine as the M5 it is a lot different to drive as we found out in the M6 Gran Coupe drive last month in Germany. It can do 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds and its top speed is limited to 250 kmph. The engine is mated to the seamless 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The M6 Gran Coupe gets four driving modes - Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport and the Sport+. In the comfort mode, the car is set the softest to soak in poor roads our country presents. Shift into the Sport or the Sport+ mode and the suspension gets stiffer and with it, the M6 feels sharper on the handling front compromising its supple ride in the process.
Among the visual changes to the 6 series Gran Coupe, the M6 gets a more aggressive body kit including a special carbon fibre roof that is exclusive to the BMW M models, 19 inch stock wheels with an option to upgrade to 20 inchers, sportier bumpers including a larger air intake on the front combined with flared wheel arches, and trademark BMW M quad-pipes and a diffuser at the rear.
Leather interiors and 20-way power adjustable and heated M Sport seats, a 10.2-inch display with inbuilt navigation, rear-parking camera with 360-degree parking assist, dual-zone automatic climate control and a keyless entry and stop/start system are part of the features list. The M6 Gran Coupe is right up there in the luxurious super coupes league.
