2015 Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI launched in India at Rs 39.90 lakh

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the diesel version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, powered by a 170PS, 2.2-litre diesel engine. Till now Mercedes just offered the C200 petrol version in India. The New Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI is offered in Style and Avantgarde variants, priced at Rs 39.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

2015 Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI launched in India at Rs 39.90 lakh

Expanding the range of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class in India, the Stuttgart-based car maker has now introduced the Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI in the market. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI is offered in Style and Avantgarde variants, priced at Rs 39.90 lakh and Rs 42.90  lakh  (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.

The new variant will help Mercedes-Benz garner better numbers for the C-Class, as many luxury car buyers in this segment prefer the more efficient diesel version. 

The new Diesel engine powered C220 CDI is imported in to India as CBU (Completely Built Units) for now. While the Mercedes-Benz C200 petrol will from now on be assembled in India at Mercedes-Benz India's Chakan plant near Pune and will carry a price tag of Rs 40.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). 

Both the petrol and diesel version of the luxury sedan look similar, which isn’t a bad thing as the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class raise the bar in the segment in terms of design, comfort and features. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has gained inspiration from company flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which is clearly visible on the exterior design and cabin layout. The just launched Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI comes equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel motor which churns out 170PS of peak power and 400Nm of maximum torque. Mated to a 7G-Tronic gearbox, the C220 CDI has a claimed 0-100kmph time of a respectable 7.4 seconds.

The new Mercedes-Benz C220 comes with 7-airbags, PRE-SAFE, Attention Assist, tyre pressure monitring system and hill assist. In terms other driver's aid it gets ESP, ASR, Brake Assist and ABS. The Diesel engine equipped Mercedes-Benz C-Class claims a fuel efficiency figure of 19.27kmpl.
