How does the biggest Pulsar yet fare in the real world riding conditions?

Bajaj has entered the highly competitive 250cc segment with the all-new Pulsar N250. But how does the biggest Pulsar’s performance fare in the real world riding conditions? Let’s find out:

Acceleration

Acceleration Bajaj Pulsar N250
0-60kmph 3.98 seconds
0-100kmph 10.87 seconds

Bajaj has employed an all-new 249.77cc oil/air-cooled single cylinder engine with a 2-valve overhead configuration. The Pulsar’s 0-60kmph acceleration is slower than even the Yamaha FZ25 by 0.04 seconds, but gathers momentum later, clocking 0-100kmph almost a second ahead of the FZ25. That said, it is 0.87 seconds slower than its faired sibling, the Bajaj Pulsar F250.

Roll-ons

  Bajaj Pulsar N250
30-70kmph 5.10 seconds
40-80kmph 6.97 seconds

The Bajaj Pulsar N250 comes second to the Bajaj Dominar 250 to clock 30-70kmph roll-on acceleration time of over 5 seconds in this segment. The story is the same in the 40-80kmph runs, and the Pulsar is quicker only than the Dominar 250. That said, there’s plenty of torque available for everyday use in the city, and one can ride it even a gear higher without stressing the engine.

Braking

  Bajaj Pulsar N250
100-0kmph 54.53m
80-0kmph 34.89m

The Bajaj Pulsar N250 uses a Gremica-sourced braking setup, and doesn’t come with dual-channel ABS even as an option. Though the brakes have adequate bite and feedback at the lever, it only manages to beat the Dominar 250 in terms of braking distance. The N250’s rivals-- the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the Yamaha FZ25 come with dual-channel ABS.

Fuel Economy

  Bajaj Pulsar N250
City FE 43.60kmpl
Highway FE 42.23kmpl

The Bajaj Pulsar N250 is amongst the heaviest bikes in the segment, coming second only to the Dominar 250. That said, the Pulsar N250 is one of the fuel efficient bikes in this segment Yamaha FZ25 and the Bajaj Pulsar F250. Interestingly, our tested fuel economy is more than the claimed economy of 39kmpl.

With the Pulsar N250, Bajaj has tried to strike a balance between performance and practicality. If you are still unsure about this quarter-litre naked, check out our first ride review here.
