Yamaha reintroduces the first-generation YZF-R15 with an ‘S’ label at Rs 1.14 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company will continue to sell the YZF-R15 v.20 along with the R25 S.
When the Yamaha YZF-R15 was first introduced in India, it became an instant hit. Reason? It was a reliable, single-cylinder sports bike at an affordable price point. Three years into its life cycle, the Japanese bike maker gave it an update and brought in the YZF-R15 v2.0. It had a redesigned tail section, an updated ECU and drivetrain.
While the v2.0 is surely a step forward, its pillion seat isn’t a comfortable place to be in. The older version on the other was more practical and comfortable for a pillion rider. Going by the demand for the first-gen R15, Yamaha has re-launched the model with an ‘S’ tag at Rs 1.14 lakh. The Yamaha YZF-R15 S comes with redesigned graphics and the same single unit seat. Changes made to powertrain of the R15 v2.0 have been carried forward to this new model as well. In fact, the exhaust from the R15 v2.0 has also been fitted to the re-launched ‘S’ model.
The company will continue to sell the YZF-R15 v.20 along with the R25 S. Yamaha has priced this R15 S exactly same as the the newer model.
