Petrol and diesel prices will be hiked by Rs 3.13 and Rs 2.17 a litre, from midninght tonight, leading Indian news agency Press Trust of India reported today.
This is the second hike announced within fifteen days. On May 1, oil companies have increased petrol price by Rs 3.96 a litre and diesel price by Rs 2.37.
Including the earlier hike, within a fortnight, petrol prices have now gone up Rs 7.09 while diesel price shot up by Rs 4.54 per litre.
Prices of petrol in Delhi will now be Rs 66.29 a litre, up from Rs 63.16. Diesel will cost Rs 51.74 a litre.
State-owned fuel retailers IOC, Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum, revise the petrol and diesel prices on 1st and 16th of every month based on average imported cost and rupee-dollar exchange rate in the previous fortnight.
