Inching towards taking the wraps off the next offering from its I.D. range of concept vehicles, German auto giant Volkswagen will showcase its new car globally at the upcoming 2017 Detroit Motor Show. VW showcased the first-ever concept of the I.D. family earlier this year at the Paris Motor Show.
In 2017, Volkswagen will unveil another I.D. concept, which the company will call a multi-functional vehicle. However, the second vehicle is based on the Modular Electric Drive Kit, just like the one that VW showcased at Paris in 2016, and will be featuring two electric motors and an all-wheel drive.
The production version of the I.D. will highlight some amazing features such as press lightly on the VW logo and the swallowing of the electronically retractable steering wheel by the dashboard when the fully autonomous driver mode is engaged. The safety features on the car will be laser scanners, ultrasonic and radar sensors and cameras which will detect the traffic movement to keep the passengers safe.
Autonomous driving technology is the latest fad on the block. This tech will help improve mobility, make the roads safer by causing fewer accidents, and spew zero emissions in an all-new era of mobility. Now, let's wait and watch to see what VW has to offer with the I.D. range of vehicles.
