Volkswagen Polo GTI Teased Prior To Launch

Volkswagen India has released teaser images of the much-awaited power-packed Polo GTI. The new vehicle will be one of the most powerful hatchbacks to be offered in the Indian market. With the manufacturer releasing teaser images of the vehicle, it confirms that the launch of the hatch is just around the corner. With the launch expected by mid-November, the Polo GTI will be a three-door model that will be brought to India via CBU route. The car has already been showcased by Volkswagen at the 2016 Auto Expo held in New Delhi.

The most exciting part of the Polo GTI is its engine. The three-door pocket rocket is powered by a 1.8-litre TSI petrol mill that is capable of putting out 192PS of max power at 4200-6200rpm and 320Nm at 1450-4200rpm. The engine will come mated to a slick 7-speed DSG gearbox that is capable of propelling the Polo GTI from standstill to 100kmph in mere 6.7 seconds. Top speed is rated at an impressive 235kmph.

Coming to the design of the hatch, the Polo GTI is based on the Polo GT sold in India. Starting off with the exterior, the Polo GTI gets a new front bumper with an aggressive design. The standard, horizontal slit grille is swapped for a bolder honeycomb grille with GTI badge and red accents running along its bottom edge. The red line continues into the re-designed headlights, further accentuating its aggressive stance. Air vents on the bumper continue to sport the honeycomb design. Moving to the rear, the Polo GTI comes with a new bumper, sporting a rear diffuser with dual exhaust tips. The car will also receive a sporty set of 17-inch multi-spoke alloys which complete the look. For the interiors, the red highlights continue its presence, giving the GTI a very sporty feel. It comes with chequered fabric seat design and red stitching on the steering wheel. 

Once launched, expect the Volkswagen Polo GTI to carry a hefty sticker tag ranging in the price range of Rs 18 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
