Upcoming Audi Q5 Facelift Spotted Testing For The First Time

Minimal cosmetic changes visible beneath the camouflaged test mule

  • The Q5 facelift is expected to debut in most markets by 2021.
  • New and polished front fascia and revised rear-end design are the obvious changes.
  • The SUV makes use of a plug-in hybrid in international markets.
  • The Audi Q5 is currently priced from Rs 55.29 lakh to Rs 59.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Various Audi SUVs have been cropping up in the news recently and the latest one to hog the spotlight is the upcoming Q5, which has been spied testing for the first time ever. The Q5 is a relatively new product for Audi. It was introduced in 2008 and is currently in its second generation. Although covered up, the changes on the test mule seem minimal and here’s what we can deduce from the spy shots.

The single frame hexagonal grille on the test mule looks large and in tune with the latest Audi cars. The headlights are clearly distinct and when paired with the new bumper, stands out. Changes have been made to the rear end too, including new tail lamps. The tailgate looks more or less similar. Changes, if any, are well camouflaged. The lower bumper design also looks similar, but expect some changes when the SUV makes it debut later this year. The side profile also imparts the same vibe with no noticeable changes.

The Q5 is available with a plug-in hybrid in international markets. Called the Q5 55 TFSI e quattro, it is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 105kW electric motor.  Combined, they develop 367PS of power and 500Nm of torque with 0-100kmph coming up in 5.3 seconds. In India, the Q5 uses a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines good for 252PS and 190PS, respectively. The existing powertrain options are expected to be carried over to the facelift.

Expect the Q5 facelift to make its debut in 2021. It should be offered in India soon after. Currently, the Audi Q5 is priced from Rs 55.29 lakh to Rs 59.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
