India’s electric two-wheeler segment has just received its latest entrant, the Ultraviolette F77. Sounds like a jet fighter, right? That's because it's inspired by one. What’s more, it leans towards the sportier side when compared to the RV400, which is pegged as an everyday commuter motorcycle. The F77 is offered in 3 colour variants -- Lightning, Shadow and Laser. Ultraviolette expects to price all of them between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.25 lakh (both prices on-road) after FAME-II subsidies. Exact prices have not been declared yet, but the bike is on sale only in Bengaluru to begin with. Online registrations to purchase the motorcycle open today, with deliveries slated to commence in October 2020.

The fighter jet-inspired F77 features an aggressive design with angular body panels and a sharp front fascia which comprises of a full LED headlight. Relatively lower set clip-on handlebars, a split seat and rear-set footpegs make for a slightly aggressive riding posture. The tail light is a split LED unit.

Ultraviolette claims it'll do 0-60kmph in 2.9 seconds, courtesy of the motor's 90Nm torque output. It manages to do so with the help of its reasonably powerful 25kW BLDC motor that propels it to a top speed of 147kmph. This motor gets its juice from three removable lithium-ion battery packs with a total capacity of 4.2kWh that claim to offer a maximum range of 150km on a single charge. The quoted figure is under standard riding conditions in an urban environment. That's on par with the RV400's ARAI-certified range of 156km. Additionally, the F77 also gets DC fast charging capabilities which means an hour and a half for a full charge or 50 minutes to charge up to 80 per cent. Ultraviolette also provides a CCS Type-2 Charge Port to support both AC and DC charging from public infrastructure.

Performance aside, the F77 also gets a slew of features. This includes a full-colour TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, over-the-air updates, bike locator, three ride modes (Eco, Sport & Insane) and ride analysis.

It's not short on kit either. The F77 uses a trellis frame with an upside down fork and a monoshock. A 320mm disc brake at the front with a radial caliper and rear disc unit offer anchorage. Oh, and switchable dual-channel ABS comes right off the shelf. It's 17-inch wheels come wrapped in 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyre. These underpinnings are quite similar (and in many cases, identical) to those of the KTM 390 Duke.

While the Ultraviolette F77 doesn't have a direct rival, it can be considered as a sportier alternative to the Revolt RV400
