The record-breaking feat happened on August 21 during the TVS Apache Pro Performance X held at the Express Avenue in Chennai. The Pro Performance X was an event organized to showcase the capabilities of the Apache RTR motorcycles, primarily the new Apache RTR 200 4V, and also an attempt to get into the record books.
The record attempt had 5 stunt teams from TVS Racing, comprising of 15 riders from Bangalore, Indore, Coimbatore, Jaipur, and Delhi. The riders performed stunts for 5 hours straight to set the record which was validated by the India Book of Records.
In the five-hour timespan, the riders performed stunts like the Christ pose, 360-degree front wheelie, synchronized flower burnout, suicide burnout, stoppies and much more. The crowd was also given a treat with a few lucky ones getting a pillion ride with the stunt riders.
The teams used Apache RTR 180 and Apache RTR 200 4V bikes modified for stunt use. This event showed the capability of the RTR 200 4V to withstand high stress on various systems, mainly the drivetrain and suspension. It also brought the reliability of these bikes to the fore as each bike was continuously ridden hard in low gears for five hours. The Apache RTR 200 comes with a 200cc air and oil cooled motor that puts out 21PS and 18 Nm of torque. The bike weighs 148.5kg without the add-ons. The light weight of the bike, short gearing and torquey motor makes it a capable base bike for the sport of stunting.
