It has been a while since TVS launched the Jupiter BS6 in the Classic variant. Since then, the prices of the standard and ZX trims have been announced but the engine and vehicle specs weren’t disclosed. Until now, that is. We finally know that the 109.7cc single-cylinder motor makes 7.4PS and 8.4Nm in its BS6 avatar, 0.51PS less than before. Peak torque remains the same.
With the transition to BS6 emission norms, the Jupiter now weighs just 1kg more than before. It is extremely commendable that TVS has managed to keep the weight of the family scooter in check. Interestingly, TVS has also managed to increase the underseat storage capacity from 17-litres to 21-litres.
Compared to the Honda Activa 6G, the Jupiter BS6 is lower on engine output. The Activa 6G, with its new 109.51cc fuel-injected motor, produces 7.79PS and 8.79Nm.
The prices of the Jupiter BS6 start from Rs 61,499 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is on par with the Activa 6G.
