Iconic British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph, is all set to launch the all-new Thruxton R on 3rd June

Triumph Thruxton R

Triumph will be bringing the latest generation of its world-renowned café racer, the Thruxton R, into the country on June 3rd. The new Thruxton R is based on the latest generation of the Bonneville. But this time around it gets even more changes compared to the Bonneville. The price might hover around the Rs 11 lakh mark.

The Thruxton R is a major departure from the previous generation Thruxton as it gets a lot of latest tech and an all-new design. The old Thruxton used a Bonneville's fuel tank; however, the all-new Thruxton gets a new classic cafe racer sort of tank, just as the one we have seen on the Royal Enfield Continental GT. Moreover, Triumph says that the all new Thruxton is a better sports bike, albeit wearing a classic old-school design.

The all new bike gets the upside-down front suspensions that add tremendous aesthetic appeal, while simultaneously improving the cornering ability of the bike. The face constitutes of the retro round headlamp unit with DRL, and one can also spot suspension cowls along with the short front mudguard. The handlebar is a short, hunkered-down unit that helps one to keep his/her weight forward. The ThruxtonR will also be available with a plethora of accessories like the retro race bike inspired front fairing shown in the picture below. The sides feature rear-set footpegs, twin rear shock absorbers, angled-up exhaust pipe and a short tail, all screaming “café racer”!

Speaking of the engine - apart from the fact that it still maintains its classic looks -it is not short of any new technology. The 1200cc parallel twin motor gets 4 valves per cylinder and is tuned to produce more power at lower revs as opposed to the peaky power delivery of its sibling, the Bonneville. Triumph’s new modern classic bike lineup also introduces ride-by-wire fuel injection, making them better at throttle response, while still implementing the dual-throttle-body layout.

The all-new Thruxton R, when launched in India, could spark an interest towards this niche segment of bikes, something that Indian riders are yet to adapt to.
