Today is the day when Triumph, the celebrated British motorcycle manufacturer, made its entry into the Indian automotive scene three years ago. Though, what with the cash crunch in the country, a bunch of sassy English motorcycles which cost more than Rs 5 lakh would be the last thing to attract your attention, a brief history of Triumph’s India operations in the past three years would not do no one any harm, right?

The company set up its first dealership in Bengaluru in 2013 and has progressively expanded to 14 dealerships in the major cities of the country. Within a span of three years, the company has managed to sell more than 3,500 motorcycles to Indian performance motorcycle buyers, whose numbers are gradually swelling.

Triumph Bonneville Range

If you are a motorcycle fanatic, you’ll already know the kind of bikes that Triumph is famous for. The Mighty Rocket III, which was printed as a cover on my notebook when I was in school, is probably one of the most recognised among millennials like me. Then there is the Bonneville range, which includes specimens like the Street Twin (the most affordable one), T120, and the Thruxton R, all carrying the latest technology under a classic skin. The Tiger range by Triumph makes sure that the beaten path does not stay unexplored, whereas the Daytona offers super sports performance.

Vimal Sumbly, managing director of Triumph motorcycle India, said, “It has been a delightful ride for us in India with an overwhelming response from our customers and partners who share our passion and enthusiasm. We are thankful to them for all our accomplishments in these years. We remain committed to delivering a true riding experience for all motorcycling enthusiasts in India with the most advanced technology and styling and look forward to many more exciting years ahead.”
