Skoda Kodiaq Leads Tour De France

Skoda’s upcoming India bound SUV, the Kodiaq, played the role of a lead car in the coveted Tour De France multi-stage bicycle rally. However, to tease the enthusiasts and spectators present at the event, the Kodiaq was wrapped in a quirky blood red skin. The wrap did help the car to draw extra attention, but was enough to deprive bystanders of the elegant design cues of the production Kodiaq. The car has been showcased several times, but in its concept form.

The three-row SUV was driven by Stephen Roche, who had won Tour De France in 1987. Commenting on the drive, Roche said, “The SUV cuts a fine figure on the bumpy Champs-Élysées boulevard”. He further shared his experience and stated, “The ŠKODA Kodiaq offers a particularly generous amount of space. Its ride is very pleasant and the car responds to all your commands with a high degree of precision. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ŠKODA Kodiaq on its Tour debut.”

Skoda is the vehicle partner for the event and had provided as many as 250 support and escort vehicles along with more than 50 team cars. The manufacturer’s current flagship car, the Superb, served as an official lead car for all the 21 stages of the race. However, the lead was handed to the Kodiaq on the twenty-first stage, which it carried to the finish line.
