We are just a few days away from 2020 -- a year that's expected to be action-packed with several new vehicles set to debut in India. The highlight of the year will clearly be the shift towards cleaner BS6 emission norms. In fact, many manufacturers have already started adopting electric mobility, which is the future of the entire automotive industry. Yes, electric cars were earlier known for their range anxiety, but India got a taste of its first long-range EV, the Kona Electric, and it has proven quite successful. With that being said, let's take a look at the top 5 long-range EVs that’ll hit Indian roads soon:
Tata Nexon EV:
The recently unveiled Tata Nexon EV is one of the most highly anticipated EVs for 2020. It claims to have a 300km plus range despite utilising a power 129PS motor. The styling updates inside-out are tasteful and premium. Then there’s the fact that all of these are expected to be offered at a much lower price tag, which makes it desirable
MG ZS EV:
The ZS EV is MG’s answer to the successful Hyundai Kona Electric. The ZS EV claims to have a real-world range of 340km and comes with premium features like connected car technology and panoramic sunroof. Now what remains to be seen is its expected price tag at launch that’s scheduled for January 2020.

Tata Altroz EV:

The Altroz EV will utilise the Ziptron powertrain that powers the recently unveiled Nexon EV. That means it’s safe to assume that the Altroz could boast a similar 300km plus range from a 129PS electric motor. Tata Motors has started testing the Altroz EV in India and it’s expected to launch in December 2020.

Audi e-tron:
The Audi e-tron could debut as India’s first luxury EV when launched in 2020. It comes with a big 95.5kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 400km despite utilising dual motors that develop excess of 400PS. The e-tron comes loaded to the gills with technology -- the highlight being the sleek ORVM cameras. Yes, the e-tron will not be cheap, but it's definitely an SUV that’s not to be ignored. Take a look at the e-tron in our detailed image gallery.
Jaguar i-PACE:
Jaguar will launch the i-PACE -- its World Car Of The Year 2019 -- on our shores in 2020. The i-PACE has a near-identical specification when compared to its competitor, the e-tron. It has a 90kWh battery pack and is powered by twin electric motors that develop 400PS and 700Nm. The claimed range stands between 377km and 476km, which is pretty decent considering its power outputs. Expect the i-PACE to cost north of a crore when launched in India.

Mercedes-Benz EQC:
Another luxury EV that’ll soon hit Indian roads is the Mercedes-Benz EQC. It develops 408PS of power and 765Nm of torque and has a claimed 465 km range -- enough for doing three Pune-Mumbai trips. Then there is the luxurious interior with its twin digital screens and a tasteful leather-draped dashboard. Expect the EQC to arrive on our roads in mid-2020.
