Top 10 selling cars in June; Maruti Suzuki Dzire takes the top berth

Maruti Dzire was the top selling car in June 2015

Maruti Suzuki's compact sedan Dzire has emerged as the highest selling car in India in June pushing its sibling Alto behind. According to car sales data accessed by ETAuto from the industry sources, the list of top 10 selling cars in June 2015 looks completely different from what it was in the same month last year.

While there is just one new entry and just one exit from the list, only a single car holds on to its position from June 2014.

Maruti Suzuki's Dzire has bounced back to numero uno position with a sales of 21,886 units. This figure is almost 37 percent higher than its sales in June 2014 which stood at 15,990. It is also higher than Dzire's sale in May 2015 of 19,663.

Best selling cars in June 2015 list

Close on its heels is last year's topper, Maruti Suzuki Alto which sold 21,115 units in the month. The loss of one spot is not only because of increased Dzire sales but also declining sales of Alto. The sales of the entry level hatchback fell by almost 31 percent from 30,499 units in June, the previous year.

Hyundai Elite i20 was the sixth most popular car in the month of June 2015

The only car to make an entry to the list and the only car to leave the list are both from Hyundai. While Xcent dropped out, Elite i20, the premium hatchback from the South Korean automaker, jumped directly to sixth position with a sales of 8,706 units last month. Elite i20 has been a segment leader with almost no competition till now. However, with the launch of Honda Jazz, the segment is expected to hot up.

MSIL's first offering with an automated manual transmission, Celerio, has been picking up traction in the market over the months. Growth wise, it was the biggest gainer in the list with over 65 percent jump in sales in June over the same month last year. Celerio sold 8.078 units as compared to 4,878 units.

The best performer for Honda Cars India for some time now has been its City. The executive sedan secured the eighth position selling of 7,187 units. This is a 7 percent fall as compared to June 2014 when it sold 7,723 cars. Ninth Spot goes to the Japanese car maker for its Amaze. The sub-4m sedan sold 6,834 units in June which is year-on-year drop of around 3 percent.

Hyundai Motor India came in again to seal the last spot on the list with its entry level hatchback Eon which sold 5,313 cars compared to 6,579 units in June last year.
