The Tokyo Motor Show has been bringing us lots of surprises, one of them being the unveiling of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 ahead of the 2017 EICMA in Milan, Italy, where it was supposed to make its debut. But along with its older sibling, the Japanese bike maker also reintroduced the Kawasaki Ninja 250.

In terms of aesthetics, the first thing you’ll notice is the lack of graphics on the redesigned fairing, which now features integrated turn indicators. The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 gets a newly designed front end with a sharp nose and twin headlamp setup. The new 14-litre fuel tank makes it look more imposing, like its older siblings. Other changes include a raised seat height of 785mm, from the earlier 775mm. The rear section has also been redesigned and now features a bigger cowl.

Powering the baby Ninja is a 249cc, parallel-twin motor that churns out 38.9PS of power at 12500rpm and 23.5Nm of torque at 10000rpm. Interestingly, these power figures are almost identical to the outgoing Kawasaki Ninja 300. Compared to its predecessor, the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 is 3kg lighter at 167kg. In terms of braking duties, Kawasaki has employed petal discs at both the front and the rear.

It still remains to be seen if Kawasaki will introduce the 2018 Ninja 250 to India considering the fact that the BS-IV compliant Kawasaki Ninja 300 is still on sale here. If launched, the Ninja 250 will compete against the likes of KTM RC 200 and Yamaha Fazer 25.
