Terra Motors, a Japanese firm, which manufactures electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers has unleashed its electric R6 three-wheeler for the Indian market. Set to debut in the country in early 2015, the vehicle is capable of doing a good 100km on a full charge, and has been tested in India.
Commenting on the company’s strong commitment towards Asia, Toru Tokushige, Founder and CEO, Terra Motors, said that India is one of the most important countries for the company. He states that unlike e-rickshaws from China which do not undergo homologation, the R6 is being tested by a certificated agency.
The Terra R6 is 2,950mm long, 1,090mm wide and has a height of 1,800mm. It has a 6+1 seating arrangement at an average weight of 70kg per person. The chassis tips the weighing scale at 278kg whereas the battery alone lifts the ticker till 150kg.
The Terra R6 is equipped with a 48V 100Ah unit which enables the three-wheeler to run a good 100km on a full charge. The maximum incline climbing ability of the Terra R6, however, is 10 degrees. The cosmetic design of the unit is quite simple, and the top-speed is stated to be 30kmph.
Terra Motors aims to sell 10,000 units of this electric three-wheeler within 2015 in India.
