Tata Motors showcased four cars to the public at the 2016 Auto Expo. All four cars showcased Tata’s future products and more importantly the Indian Automotive Giant’s future direction in terms of design both on the exterior and interior front. The new Tata Motors cars include the new full size crossover SUV, the Hexa, the new compact SUV – Nexon, the small hatchback Zica and the compact sedan Kite 5. Of course, as we know, the Zica hatchback will soon get a brand new name while the Kite 5 sedan is still awaiting a christening of its own.
The first car to make it to the public will be the new Hexa. The new Hexa is a full sized crossover SUV that is the replacement for the Aria. The new Hexa comes with really sharp styling and gets large 19-inch wheels and a whole bunch of very good details like daytime running light clusters and a new greenhouse profile. Expect the Hexa to make it to showrooms in the next few weeks at a price point of Rs 15-20 lakh.
The next car to make it to Indian audiences will be the Zica hatchback which will get a new name. We have already driven the Zica and we like it a lot with the exception of the engines that still feel a little underpowered. That said, the Zica does get a lot of space and modern interiors that make the car look more expensive than it actually is. The Zica will be available with both a petrol and a diesel engine and will be priced at Rs 4.0-5.5 lakh and will be launched by May or June.
The Zica will be followed byt the Kite 5 compact sedan which is speculated to be called the Sway. The new Sway or Kite 5 compact sedan will be based on the Zica and share the interiors too. The new car will also come with both petrol and diesel engines. We particularly like the styling that the Kite 5 offers, especially at the rear end with the crisp and stubby boot. We also like the integrated spoiler that is positioned on the top of the glass and offers easy viewing. Expect a November launch with prices starting at Rs 4.5 lakh
The Tata Nexon compact SUV will be the last of this lot that will be launched in January 2017 possibly. The new Nexon that we saw the the Auto Expo was indeed a production ready model and we are happy to reveal that the new Nexon will also have a two tone painjob since the roof and the main structure have a very clear and distinct partition. The new Nexon will also be available both in petrol and dieel engine and will be priced at Rs 8-11 lakh when it does to India soon.
