Tata Motors has officially revised the pricing of the recently launched Tiago hatchback by approximately Rs 6,000. The hike does not come as a surprise as we had previously reported on Tata being likely to revise the Tiago’s introductory pricing. The hatchback was launched at a starting price of Rs 3.39 lakh for the petrol base variant, which went up to Rs 5.84 lakh for the diesel top variant (both ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The rise in the sticker price for the hatchback is applicable for all variants except the base petrol and diesel models. Following is a table that represents the launch and new prices and the difference between them:

With the Tiago, Tata has introduced its ‘Impact’ design language which will be observed in other future models. Tata Motors currently has a backlog of more than 23,000 bookings for the Tiago that comes with a waiting period of close to three months.
The Tiago is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre ‘Revotron’ motor producing 85PS of power and 114Nm of torque, the diesel variant comes equipped with a 1.1-litre ‘Revotorq’ engine that puts out 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a 5-speed gearbox. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Tiago returns 23.84kmpl for the petrol and 27.28kmpl for the diesel.
Tata will also be introducing an AMT variant of the Tiago which is expected to be launched in September. The AMT variant will be offered in both petrol and diesel models.
