The H2X’s design takes plenty of cues from its bigger brothers, the Nexon BS6 and Harrier.

  • A close-to-production-spec Tata H2X is expected to be showcased at Auto Expo 2020.
  • Expected to come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control and rear parking sensors.
  • The H2X will most likely be powered by a BS6 1.2-litre petrol engine.
  • It could also be offered with the Ziptron Electric powertrain later.

A prototype of the upcoming Tata H2X (Hornbill) has been spotted testing in the country yet again. The latest spy shots reveal the front end and show us a sneak peek of its interior as well. A close-to-production version of the H2X is expected to be showcased at Auto Expo 2020. Let’s have a closer look at the upcoming model, shall we?

The Tata H2X’s front end borrows styling cues from the Harrier and Nexon BS6. The upright nose comes with split headlamps headlamps and a sleek grille while the air dam’s mesh finish looks similar to the facelifted Nexon. With its squared out wheel arches, the H2X’s profile looks similar to the concept. At the rear, the micro SUV comes with round tail lamps.

A sneak peek inside reveals a floating infotainment system, so we’re assuming a layout similar to other Tatas.

Expected features include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, a multi-info display, steering-mounted audio controls as well as keyless entry with push button start. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors will most likely be standard on all variants.

The Tata H2X will most likely utilise the Tiago’s BS6-compliant 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that develops 86PS of power and 114Nm of torque. We expect it to be available with a 5-speed manual and AMT. Chances of seeing a diesel H2X are highly unlikely as Tata Motors has recently discontinued the 1.05-litre diesel engine.

The H2X could also be offered with the Ziptron powertrain that develops 129PS of power, 245Nm of torque and utilises a 30.2kWh battery pack. The recently introduced Nexon EV utilises this powertrain and has an ARAI claimed range of 312km.
