Skoda Octavia vRS To Get Both Diesel And Petrol Variants In India

It has already been confirmed that the Skoda Octavia vRS, the performance sedan from the Czech carmaker, might hit Indian markets by next year. This car will be one of four new products that the company is going to launch in India and now it has been learnt that Skoda is considering launching both the petrol and the diesel variants of this car.

Skoda launched the Octavia sedan in India back in 2013 but the carmaker never brought the vRS version to the shores until now. Since the perspective of Indian car buyers have changed completely and gone more towards performance-oriented cars now, Skoda has decided to launch the sportier vRS version in India.

Coming back to the car, the petrol version will get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor that will produce 217PS of power. On the other hand, the diesel variant will be loaded with the 2.0-litre TDI version of the Octavia vRS, which is a turbocharged four-cylinder motor capable of producing 184PS of power. Both cars get both the 6-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed DSG unit internationally, however, the models that are going to come to India will get only the DSG unit.

On the exterior, the Octavia vRS looks more or less like the standard Octavia. The grille remains the same but this time it’s completely black with no trace of chrome anywhere on it, save for the ‘vRS’ badge. The headlights also remain more or less like the standard one, but it is more prominent now thanks to the smoked effect. The car gets tweaked sporty bumpers which gives it an aggressive look, wide central air dam, air intakes on each side coupled with horizontal LED foglamps, and sportier alloy wheels.
