If you are a fan of the Octavia vRS – yes, the same hot-blooded sedan that Skoda introduced in 2004 with a 150PS, 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol – then it’s time for you to rejoice. That's because the Octavia vRS might make its way to India in its latest avatar. And we've got this intel from the car's Czech manufacturer itself.

In the international markets, the new Octavia vRS is not only powerful, but is loaded with advanced safety features and gizmos, a majority of which should be available with the Indian-spec car as well. The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor, which produces a healthy 220PS of power. This enables it to achieve the 0-100kmph run in just 6.8 seconds, whereas the top speed is a handsome 248kmph. The vRS is also available with a diesel engine in the European markets, with a good 184PS of power, resulting in a 0-100kmph time and top speed figure of 8.1 seconds and 232kmph, respectively.

The transmission duties are carried by a six-speed manual and a six-speed DSG, available as options with both the motors.

As far as the styling goes, the new vRS gets quite a few design upgrades to differentiate it from the standard Octavia. On the outside, the car dons an aggressive front bumper with wider air dam, a darker grille with vRS badge, bigger wheels, and a tail spoiler. On the inside, it gets sporty bucket seats, all-black colour scheme, and vRS embossing at places, such as the steering wheel, door sills, gear knob, and so on.

However, the vRS could be toned down a bit to suit Indian conditions in areas like engine power, the large alloy wheels that support low-profile tyres, and the proper sports bucket seats. In addition, the car could also be introduced as a limited-edition offering, just like the early vRSs that we got.
