Skoda Kodiaq SUV showcased at media event prior to official debut

Codenamed the A-Plus for the pre-production model, Skoda had presented the SUV with the front and rear portions covered at a media event.

Skoda had been working on an SUV offering based on the company’s Vision S concept design. At a recent media event held in Parague, the Czech Company presented a partially masked pre-production prototype of the SUV. The prototype was code named A-Plus which is expected to carry the Kodiaq name when launched officially.

In terms of dimensions, the SUV is close to the length of the Volkswagen Tiguan and follows the Vision S concept design of the brand. The SUV is scheduled to make its official debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

The event marked the celebration of 25 years of cooperation between Skoda and the Volkswagen group at its museum in Prague. 

The partially masked SUV by the Czech brand had the front and rear section covered. Only the side profile, wheels, side cladding, side mirrors were undisguised. As mentioned above, according the reports Skoda has already trademarked the Kodiaq name for the SUV which will be officially announced soon by the company.

Skoda has carried out various different tests involving no less than 47 prototypes of the SUV. The engineers and test pilots at Skoda have reportedly covered more than seven lakh kilometres under different tests of the SUV. 

Underpinning the MQB platform of Volkswagen Group, the Kodiaq SUV from Skoda shares the similar platform with various VW and Audi models. 

Skoda is expected to launch the SUV by the end of the year in the international markets, followed by an entry in India sometime in 2017.
