Czech manufacturer Skoda has teased its upcoming full-sized SUV Kodiaq by releasing its digital sketches. The car is due for its reveal at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in September. The SUV is a first of its kind from Skoda and also the biggest utility vehicle the company has ever made. It is expected to get 7 seats like any other full sized SUV.

Speaking of the sketches, not much could be made out of them about the design, but it has a striking resemblance to the concept Vision S. A lot of elements have been kept intact, like the headlamp and foglamp layout, the character lines, the muscular wheel arches. The end too looks very similar to that of the concept, however, it is marginally different around the tail lamp are.

The sketches are only of the exteriors of the Kodiaq, and the production spec interiors are yet to be revealed, which certainly will be very different from that of the concept. Since there are still a couple of months for September Skoda might tease the interiors sketches before the reveal.

The Kodiaq is expected to share the motor from the Superb in both diesel as well as petrol guise. Additionally, Skoda has plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of Kodiaq at a later stage.

Jozef Kaban, Skoda’s design boss explained the importance of Kodiaq by stating, “The Škoda Kodiaq is a pioneer for our brand in two respects. We are entering a new segment with our first large SUV above the Yeti. And at the same time, the Kodiaq is the first model with the new Škoda SUV design language. It is powerful and emotive, but also timeless.”

The Kodiaq name was finalized a few weeks ago and it represents a majestic Alaskan bear species.
