It will be the only SUV in the manufacturer’s India lineup after the departure of the Yeti earlier this year

Skoda Kodiaq

At last, the Skoda Kodiaq is launching tomorrow after a long wait. It will mark the Czech manufacturer's entry into the 7-seater SUV segment and will be taking on segment leaders like the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25 to Rs 32 lakh.

From the outside, it looks like Skoda’s take on the Audi Q7. The large proportions and sharp body lines make it look handsome. The front gets the signature Skoda grill with LED projector headlamps. A bold shoulder line runs below the windows, the lower halves of the doors have a concave effect and large wheel arches with plastic cladding house the 18-inch alloys. The rear looks clean with the sculpted tailgate and Skoda Superb-like split LED tail lamps.

Skoda Kodiaq-interior

On the inside, the Kodiaq is no different from any other Skoda in terms of quality. It gets dual-tone interiors with black-beige finish. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment dominates the central console and features SmartLink that includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink. The Kodiaq gets a 3-zone air conditioning system, two for the driver and co-passenger and the third for the rest of the car. It also gets a large panoramic sunroof that allows a good amount of light into the cabin. Other features include the electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, powered tailgate, reversing camera with top view and a 10-colour ambient lighting system. In terms of safety, it is equipped with features such as 9 airbags, multi-collision braking system and a fatigue alert system.

Skoda Kodiaq

The Skoda Kodiaq is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which produces 150PS of power and 340 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and gets paddle shifters and various driving modes as well. The power from the engine is transmitted to the wheels by an all-wheel-drive system. Skoda might also look at introducing a petrol-powered Kodiaq later this year, which is likely to be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that’s under the Octavia RS’ hood.
