Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Facelift

Suzuki has showcased the facelifted 2017 Suzuki S-Cross at the ongoing Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. The car is already on sale in the UK market (variants -- SZ4, SZ-T, and SZ5). The Japanese carmaker claims that the facelifted S-Cross is more powerful and efficient than the current model. Suzuki revealed three variants -- 4You, 4Style, and 4Style AllGrip, for the Brazilian market at the ongoing auto show.

On the outside, the S-Cross gets a chrome-finished grille with vertical slats (resembling BMW's signature kidney grille), projector headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs), and tweaked front bumpers which make the car look more aggressive. Apart from that, the car also features a large radiator grille, front fog lamp with chrome garnishing, black protective skid plates, black wheel arch extensions, 16-inch alloy wheels, heated door mirrors, and LED tail lamps.

Step into the car and you will find an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Mirrorlink, and a double sliding panoramic glass sunroof. Safety wise, the car will feature seven airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP) and cruise control with a speed limiter.

Mechanically, the Brazil-spec car will be offered in two petrol engine variants -- a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that churns out 128PS of power, and the new 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo engine producing 149 PS of power. However, the India-bound model is likely to have the new M15 1.5-litre petrol motor that churns out 101PS of power and 133Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the oil burner options might be the 1.3-litre engine producing 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque and the 1.6-litre multijet motor which delivers 119.6PS of power and 320Nm of peak torque.

Currently, the S-Cross is sold in India priced between the Rs 8 and 10 lakh mark. The facelifted crossover is likely to hit Indian shores in the second half of 2017 and Maruti might increase the price slightly. Till then, stay tuned.
