Royal Enfield to carry out 'proactive service update' for Himalayan

Royal Enfield is carrying out what it calls a "proactive service update" of its latest motorcycle Himalayan to fix issues like engine noise, a hard gear shift and a stand gap. The saree guard will also be changed. all the changes will be carried out on an unspecified number of motorcycles.

The company issued the "proactive service update" upon receiving feedback from a few of its customers. Eicher Motors MD and CEO Siddhartha Lal said that while high engine noise does not affect performance, a solution has been found for the same. He added that usuallt such issues get resolved in first routine service of the motorcycle, but royal Enfield wants to fix it earlier. Royal Enfield is a part of Eicher Motors.

Lal said Royal Enfield will replace the rocker unit in the engine for those who are experiencing the engine noise issue. He also clarified that terming it a recall would be wrong as recall is issued for safety-related issues and the like.

Siddharth Lal also addressed the issue of hard gear shifting. He added that saree guard's design would be changed. He also touched upon the issue of the bike stand touching the bike's body and solving the same issue. Lastly, he said that only a few hundred Himalayans were affected by either or all of the issues and they will be tended to on a case-by-case basis.
