Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey flagged off from Delhi

The 12th edition of Royal Enfield’s Himalayan Odyssey was flagged off on July 11 from Delhi’s most iconic landmark- India Gate.

Recognized as the holy grail of motorcycle rides across the world, Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey remains the most revered and cherished ride amongst all motorcyclists.

After the lamas chanted prayers and blessed the riders at the flag-off ceremony, a majestic procession of 55 thumping Royal Enfield motorcycles was flagged off by Rudratej (Rudy) Singh, President, Royal Enfield, marking the commencement of the ride.

“The Himalayan Odyssey is our annual marquee ride that brings together motorcycling enthusiasts from across geographies for an epic journey to the highest motorable road in the world. This year like all previous years, promises to be the ultimate pure motorcycling adventure,” said Singh.

Now in its 12th edition, the Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey will take 55 riders through three mountain ranges and six passes as they ride through one of world’s highest motorable road – Khardung La, at a peak of 18,380 feet.

These motorcyclists will ride for 15 days covering more than 2700 kilometres, through some of the most scenic yet treacherous terrains in the Himalayas. The seasoned motorcyclists will pass through Parwanoo, Narkanda, Jispa, Sarchu, Rumtse, Hunder via Wari La and will reach Leh via Khardung-La on July 20.

After taking a rest day off on July 21, the riders would ride down to Tso-Kar, Jispa, Manali and will finally reach Chandigarh on July 25. While riding, the riders will also pass through areas like Kalpa and Kaza that are considered to be the toughest terrains for riding not only in India but across the world.

This year, the participants are hailing from cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Salem, Sri Ganganagar and Hubli amongst others. This is the first time that Royal Enfield is allowing pillion riders on the Himalayan Odyssey.
