Recently there were many reports that the Royal Enfield Electra might be discontinued. The above rumour took us by surprise as the Electra is the cheapest of the Royal Enfield motorcycle on sale in the Indian market. Also the Electra is popular among Royal Enfield loyalists for its classical and original lines that hark back to the design of the Bullets of the yore. Gladly for RE devotees the company has denied that the Electra will be discontinued. Instead, Royal Enfield has rechristened the Electra as the Bullet 350 ES.
The new Royal Enfield Bullet 350 gets two variants – standard and ES (electric start). The Bullet 350 ES also gets equipped with disc brake at front while the standard model sports drum brakes on both ends. Apart from the change of name there has been no mechanical or cosmetic updates on the motorcycle. The renaming means that there are two motorcycles under the Bullet family – the standard 500 and now the new 350 ES. Powering the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 ES is an air-cooled, single-cylinder twinspark motor producing 20PS at 5,250rpm and 28Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The powerplant is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 ES carries a sticker price of Rs 1.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
