Through this initiative, Rolls-Royce hopes to tap into the country's most innovative small and medium sized companies and identify technologies or techniques outside of which Rolls-Royce usually operates

With the aim of further broadening its expertise and sourcing the best materials and components for its global operations, Rolls-Royce has launched its India Open Innovation programme (IOiN-RR) here in India.

As a major provider of power systems and services for use on land, at sea and in the air, Rolls-Royce has made major contributions to the global civil aerospace, defence aerospace, marine and energy industries.

Through this initiative the Roll-Royce will buy or license technologies or techniques outside Rolls-Royce’s traditional areas of operation that are new and potentially beneficial to its business. IOiN-RR will also provide Indian organisations with the opportunity to leverage their solutions globally.

To better understand this undertaking, Paul Stein, Chief Scientific Officer at Rolls-Royce explains, “Through this programme, we are seeking to identify technologies or techniques in industries outside of which Rolls-Royce usually operates, and in small and medium sized companies Rolls-Royce does not currently work with.”

Explaining India’s role specifically in this endeavour, Kishore Jayaraman, President, Rolls-Royce India said “India is home to some of the world’s most innovative small and medium sized companies. Rolls-Royce has an 80-year history of strong and successful partnerships and collaborations in India, and we hope to establish more partnerships of mutual benefit through this initiative.”

To be eligible for this programme, organisations must have a minimum of two years of operation on record. The solutions that are submitted by the participants should be beyond concept stage and should lie between a successful prototype and ready for industry stage. After an initial screening, shortlisted applicants will be invited to register online and submit a detailed proposal.

Organisations should register their initial interest via email to FICCI (IOiN-RR@ficci.com) or NASSCOM (avinash@nasscom.in).
