Renault names new race car as Renaultsport R.S. 01

Last month Renault had unveiled a teaser sketch of the new Renault Sport Trophy concept race car, and now it has revealed its name. The future race car will be called Renaultsport R.S. 01 and will be officially shown to the world on August 27 at the Moscow Motor Show.

Though, complete details about this ‘spectacular new race car’ will be shared during the motor show, the World Series car will certainly carry a powerful Nismo engine under its bonnet capable to churn out over 500PS of power. This motor will come mated with a seven-speed sequential gearbox supplied by Sadev, and would run on specially developed Michelin tyres.

There’s a teaser video too which gives a better glimpse of the car and its cracking exhaust note. The stub bonnet, muscular wheel-arches, a massive rear spoiler and aggressive low stance give it a thoroughbred race car appearance.

With the new Renaultsport R.S. 01 designed especially for the 2015 World Series races the French car manufacturer hopes to shake up the racing circuit.
