The 0.8-litre Kwid will still retain its “value for money” tag even after its price hike

Renault Kwid

Renault India had increased the price of its Kwid small hatch in January 2016. Now, the French carmaker has revealed the updated prices for the popular entry level car. The Kwid will now be more expensive by anywhere between Rs 3,000-6,000.

The Kwid has been one of the most important car launches in 2015, setting a new benchmark in the small hatch segment. It became an instant success in a short span of time, thanks in large part to the price it was being sold at: Rs 2.56 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Still, Renault announced at the launch itself that it will be increasing the price of the car in the future.

Thanks to this price revision, the base variant of the Renault Kwid has gone up by nearly Rs 3,000 and the top-end RXT variant by Rs 6,000. By increasing the prices by this much, the Kwid still retains its value-for-money proposition. The Kwid also offers features such as a spacious cabin, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth and AUX connectivity, a boot space of 300 litres and ground clearance of 180mm.

Speaking about the engine, the Renault Kwid is powered by a 799cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 53.2PS of power and 72Nm of torque which is transmitted to the front wheels by a 5-speed manual gearbox. With its 0.8-litre engine, the Renault Kwid has made its place as one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the country.
