The French carmaker marches on to expand its reach in the SAARC region

Renault has witnessed a steady growth in India and the credit goes to the compact SUV Duster which helped the carmaker cement its roots in the country, and the hot-selling hatchback Kwid which has taken the market by storm. The success of the Kwid has lead Renault to believe that India can become a major production hub. While the car is being exported from India to several locations in Latin America and Africa, Renault has now opened its operations in Nepal with the made-in-India Kwid and Duster.

The French automaker has partnered with the Kathmandu-based Vishal Group to enter the Nepalese market. This will help the automotive brand stay in sync with its strategy to expand its presence in the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) region. The showroom of Advanced Automobiles Pvt. Ltd. (part of Vishal Group) has been designed on the basis of what Renault calls the RENAULTSTORE concept. The company says that the facility caters to the evolving needs of customers and highlights everything from the brand image and the vehicles being sold, to the services and accessories on offer.

Renault says that SUVs and hatchbacks are growing segments in Nepal. Having set new benchmarks in the automotive industry in India, both these products will surely appeal to customers and auto enthusiasts in Nepal as well.

In India, Renault is operating through a joint venture with Japanese car marque Nissan. The collaboration has a shared production plant in Oragadam near Chennai, which can roll out up to 4,00,000 units per year.
