The gargantuan SUV is now more luxurious, greener and meaner too!

Updated Range Rover lineup

With the Range Rover Sport receiving an update last week, we knew that its bigger brother couldn’t be far behind. While the updates to the flagship Range Rover include something for both tech and power junkies, the headlining act is the addition of the new plug-in hybrid variant.

Greener

All versions of the big daddy Range Rover can now be specced with the same electrical powertrain seen on the Range Rover Sport PHEV. This powertrain consists of the Ingenium 2-litre turbo petrol and an 85kW electric motor. The combined power output is rated at 403.5PS! Most importantly, it can now deliver a range of up to 49km on pure electric power alone. Pretty impressive.

Meaner

In the case of the most powerful production Range Rover ever, the SVAutobiography, the changes go beyond cosmetic tweaks and feature updates. Its hooligan of an engine, a 5-litre supercharged V8, just got wilder with a power boost of 15.2PS from its earlier 551PS. Thanks to the power boost, the SVAutobiography can now cover the 0-100kmph sprint in a mere 5.1 seconds. The older model did the same in 5.4 seconds. Along with LED headlamps, the SVAutobiography also gets an all new Graphite Atlas mesh grille.

More Luxury & Tech

On the outside, the updated lineup now features an all new LED lighting system. The new lighting system is pretty smart as it can blank out some of the sections of the LEDs to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers.

The interior has been tailored for improved comfort too. The front seats now feature 24-way electric adjustment thanks to the new seat frames. The rear seats are now wider and comfier and can be reclined by up to 40 degrees. These seats can be put to good use on the SVAutobiography variant thanks to its 1,206mm wheelbase, which is 186mm longer than its predecessor. If you get tired of all the luxury bits, the seats now feature 25 different massage modes. Occupants also get the benefit of a heated armrest this time around. These seats can now be adjusted to your liking via a smartphone app!

The gizmo fest continues with JLR’s updated InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, which now utilises two 10-inch HD screens. The powered sunblinds can now be opened or closed with the help of gestures too. You also get 17 connection points which include normal domestic points, USB sockets, HDMI ports and 12-volt sockets. In addition to this, you also get a  4G hotspot which can handle up to eight devices.
