Porsche Panamera Diesel Grand Turismo arrives in India at Rs 1.04 cr

Following the news of former Lamborghini head of operations in India Pavan Shetty’s appointment as the director of Porsche India, the German manufacturer has wasted little time in introducing the first car under his leadership, the Panamera Diesel Grand Turismo.

The latest model in Porsche’s Panamera range has arrived in India, according to a press release here in Mumbai. It aims to attract the uber-rich petrol heads of India by combining its elegant styling with a powerful 246.7PS mill.

Sporting blunt feline headlamps above a plain grille on the front fascia, the exterior of the new Porsche is marked by subtle design tones. High-glossy black trim strips on the side windows and door handles in the same colour are available as a part of the optional Porsche Entry & Drive, adds the release.

The 19-inch alloy wheels in Panamera Turbo II design, including wheel hub covers with a coloured Porsche crest, as well as bi-xenon headlights operating the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) are available as standard equipment.

The interior of the car boasts of the standard Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a seven-inch touchscreen monitor to combine audio, navigation and communication features. Good news for the music fans is the 585-watt Bose Surround Sound System with 14 speakers that comes with Porsche’s latest offering in India. Additional standard features on the Panamera Diesel include Adaptive Air Suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Park Assist (front and rear), including reversing camera, electric slide and tilt sun roof, soft close doors, 4-zone climate control and Power Steering, according to the release.

On the occasion, newly-appointed Porsche India supremo, Pavan Shetty, said in the release, “The Panamera Diesel Edition is a thrilling four-door sports car that provides an abundance of driving pleasure, combined with styling accents that typify this specific model from Porsche. The range of additional equipment available as standard makes this premium model a truly attractive offering for our enthusiasts.”

Set to lock horns with the likes of the Jaguar F Type and BMW X6 in its price range, the new Panamera Diesel Edition is valued at Rs 1,04,16,000 (ex-showroom Mumbai) for the basic variant.
