With the launch of the bike scheduled for today evening, images of the upcoming Triumph Scrambler 1200 have been leaked on Instagram and they have left us salivating to say the least.

The big 1200 looks the part of a scrambler. With a small round headlamp, high-rise handlebars, roundish fuel tank, flat seat and scrambler-styled sweeping exhausts, the Scrambler 1200 fits the styling of the genre. Couple that with beefy USD forks, knuckle guards, metal bash plate, serrated footpegs (with removable rubber inserts) and spoke rims, and you’ve got a bike that will be ready to take on the dirty side of riding quite well.

The round data panel seems to be a fully digital TFT display which has got its own styling, unlike the ones found on the Street Triple RS as well as the new Tigers.

The frame will be a modified version of the Bonneville T-120’s double cradle chassis, with obvious changes visible in the rear subframe section. Even the swingarm as well as the rear dual shocks are new, with the suspension units being of the long travel kind. It might be running a 21-inch front rim and not a 19-inch one, to showcase its true off road potential, while the rear rim might be an 18-inch one. From the photos it can be deduced that the Scrambler 1200’s spoke rims will facilitate the use of tubeless tyres, thanks to the collar-mounted spokes.

As the name suggests, the Scrambler 1200 will employ Triumph’s 1200cc parallel-twin motor in the High Torque trim. However, it is still unknown whether it will use the T 120’s tuning, the Bobber’s tuning, or get a special tune for itself.

While the exact details of the suspension units are sketchy, the ‘Ohlins’ badging on the piggyback reservoirs suggest that the Swedish manufacturer is supplying the rear dual shocks for the same. The front USDs could be long-travel Showa forks -- however, that is still left to be confirmed. Thankfully, the Scrambler 1200 gets Brembo M50 monoblocs to provide the necessary stopping power. These units are the same ones found on the Street Triple RS, and needless to say, they were brilliant. While the bike will definitely get ABS, it should hopefully also be of the switchable type, to aid in off-roading.

We will have all the details on the new Scrambler 1200 tomorrow as the global unveil will take place at around 1:30am on October 25. The Scrambler 1200 will surely be giving the likes of the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and the smaller yet more offroad-capable Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled a run for their money.
