A popular entry level sedan in China, the new Nissan Sunny is expected to hit Indian shores between June & July this year, and thanks to its strong brand association should fare well in the Indian compact sedan market

The unmitigated success of the Nissan MICRA hatchback in India has given Nissan some serious motivation in further expanding its model line-up in India, and next in line for its discerning Indian customers is a new entry-level sedan (for international markets), which has been tagged as the 'Sunny' for India.

Unveiled for the very first time at the 8th China International Automobile Exhibition, the new Nissan Sunny is expected to be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine, and later on the diesel which in all probabilities will be the same dci powerplant currently operating on the new Nissan Micra Diesel.

Like we mentioned before, this new global sedan from Nissan will be based on Nissan’s smart and flexible V-platform and Nissan Motor Co. will look at selling this car across 170 countries. We will however have to wait and see what sort of pricing Nissan demands for this smart looking sedan, which once in India will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki SX4 and the Honda City in the compact sedan space. Just like the Nissan Micra, it should offer a good balance of drive comfort and handling, while keeping the weight low and fuel efficiency high.
