Chakan Distribution Centre

The Indian arm of Japanese car firm Nissan today inaugurated its third regional parts distribution centre in Chakan, Pune. This facility has been strategically located to serve 35 dealerships spread across the western and central parts of the country. Nissan claims that this new facility, which is spread over 60,278 sq. ft., will help improve service to customers by speeding up parts delivery of Nissan and Datsun cars available in the carmaker’s Indian portfolio.

At the opening ceremony, Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd., said, “Nissan is a customer centric organisation and we are focused on providing the best after sales experience to our customers. We have brought the best global customer service practices to India, and we are continuing to invest with our new parts distribution centre in Pune to come closer to our customers.”

Inside Chakan Facility

According to Nissan, this new facility will employ 70 people and will help provide spare parts to dealerships spread across Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Daman & Diu, helping reduce the turnaround time. This is the third such facility to be set up by the Japanese car firm. One of the other two parts distribution centres is located in Chennai, which covers pan-India dealers. The second facility is located in Haryana and serves the northern region, covering dealerships in Delhi/NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

In India, Nissan is in an alliance with French automaker Renault and both the car firms share a common production facility based out of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Nissan recently invested over $2 billion in Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi, becoming the single-largest stakeholder (with 34 per cent controlling stake) in the company.
