Toyota has finally announced that the next-gen Land Cruiser LC300 will be unveiled on June 9, 2021. By now, we know each and everything about the upcoming SUV thanks to countless leaks. But of all these points, here are five key things you need to know about the Land Cruiser LC300:
Still Looks Boxy
The boxy shape means even an untrained eye can easily spot the Land Cruiser on the road. But Toyota has worked on the front and rear end, giving the SUV a more macho look. This includes a new grille (that accommodates almost the entire fascia), sleeker LED headlamps and taillamps, new 20-inch alloy wheels and redesigned bumpers.
Classy Interior
While the exterior may seem familiar, the interior has been completely redesigned, featuring a floating touchscreen infotainment and an overhauled central console. Unlike its German rivals that are shifting towards touchscreens, the Land Cruiser’s cabin retains knobs and buttons for all important functions. It will also get new features, which takes us to the next section.
Features Onboard
Notable features in the Land Cruiser include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four-zone climate control, a head-up display, illuminated side step, 11.6 rear-seat entertainment screens, a powered tailgate with kick sensor, drive modes, and ventilated and heated seats. It will also feature lane keeping assist, electronic stability control, and an electric parking brake.
Being an off-roader, the SUV will come equipped with an four-wheel drive system, front and rear diff locks, and a 360-degree camera with terrain monitor.
Under The Hood
Toyota will take the downsizing route, replacing the outgoing model’s V8 power houses with smaller V6 engines. The petrol variant comes with a 414PS/650Nm 3.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. On the other hand, the diesel variant is provided with a 306PS/700Nm 3.3-litre unit that is 40PS and 50Nm more powerful than before. Both engines are likely to be provided with an automatic transmission.
India Launch On Cards?
Toyota offered the Land Cruiser LC200 at an insane Rs 1.47 crore (ex-showroom). The next-gen model could be offered as the brand’s flagship model at a similar price point. When launched, it will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, and the Range Rover.
