A couple of Instagram stories have revealed exciting aspects of the upcoming performance cars

The new-gen BMW M3 and M4 is quite easily the most anticipated performance car of this year. Nope, it’s not because both these cars will bear that XXL-sized kidney grilles. It’s because they will have significant improvements under the flesh. Set to be revealed in September, the carmaker has released a teaser of both the models on its Instagram page.

You must have already seen these cars undisguised thanks to automotive paparazzi. But here’s a quick recap. Both cars will come with the gigantic (read: controversial) kidney grilles that may require some getting used to. But try looking past it and what you get is a classic BMW. The profile is taut with sharp lines and creases and the rear, with sharply-styled LED tail lamps and quad exhausts, looks menacing. And this being an M Car, you’ll get plenty of parts from the M bin such as M-branded alloy wheels, side skirts, and sportier bumpers.

The interior of both these models are yet to be revealed. But expect the basic layout to be similar to the standard BMW 3 Series and 4 Series. Expect both cars to feature chunky M-branded steering wheels and sports seats as well.

Powering both these cars is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that develops 510PS (60PS more than before). The Competition pack is likely to add a few more ponies. But what sets these two models apart is the introduction of switchable all-wheel drive system, allowing you to switch to RWD mode to let the tail slip out. BMW enthusiasts will also be happy to know that there will be a pure RWD mode on offer as well. You also have a 6-speed manual gearbox that will be sold alongside the automatic variant if you want to take matters into your own hands.
