Transforming motorcycles into a work of art has become a norm at the MV Agusta factory on the banks of Lake Varese in Italy. A shining example of this is the MV Agusta Dragster 800 RC. The special edition bike was released last year and stole the EICMA motor show with its beautiful design and race-inspired livery, which paid a homage to the WSBK bikes. In case you were wondering what RC stood for, it means Reparto Corse, which means race department in Italian. MV Agusta’s RC range of bikes also bears the number 37, a reference to the number of world championship the Italian firm has claimed over the years.
MV Agusta has now given the Dragster 800 RC some tweaks in the mechanical department to make it edge past its competition. For starters, the 798cc, triple-cylinder engine is now Euro-IV compliant and gets a harmonic dampener that ensures a smoother ride by reducing engine vibrations. To reduce engine wear, the engineers have improved the motorcycle’s gearing too. A large volume silencer now helps cut down noise emissions. The updated RC also features an all-new engine map for improved fueling and better performance. Apart from a reinforced starter freewheel, which offers improved durability, the 800 RC’s starter motor assembly has seen some improvements in terms of internal mechanics too.
On the electronics front, the 8-stage traction control system has been further optimised for better performance along with a quickshifter that helps make gear changes smoother and refined. The EAS 2.0 electronic shifter now enables the rider to shift faster, offering more practicality in sporty riding conditions. The new Dragster 800 RC borrows interesting tidbits from the updated F3 range, including a new shifter with new gear dogs and a new engine cover, which promises to offer enhanced engine protection and also help in noise reduction.
Earlier, the Italian bike maker had updated the F3 675, F3 800 and the Dragster 800 RR. Out of these, only the F3 800 RC is currently available in our two-wheeler market. We expect MV Agusta to bring the Dragster 800 RC to our shores via the CBU route.
