People movers are slowly gaining steam in India. Despite the market slowdown, reports claim the MPV segment grew by 35 percent last year. MPVs are known for their immense practicality, capable of carrying seven or more passengers and their luggage with ease. While Auto Expo 2020 will be dominated by SUVs, there will be quite a few MPVs across different price brackets as well. Here’s the list:
Kia Carnival (Rs 25 lakh, expected):
Kia Motors India will launch the Carnival at Auto Expo 2020. We have already driven the Carnival and came back impressed with its styling and feature list . The Carnival is a premium MPV and will sit above the popular Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market. It can be had as a 7-seater, 8-seater or even as a 9-seater depending on the variant you pick. Powering the Carnival is a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre CRDI engine that develops 200PS and 440Nm. It will be offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission right from launch.
Renault Triber AMT/Turbo-petrol (Rs 7.2 lakh, expected):
Renault India will soon expand the Triber’s lineup with an AMT and turbo-petrol variant. The Triber AMT will be offered with a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre motor that develops 72PS and 96Nm. Renault could also plonk its new 1.0-litre TCe 100 turbo-petrol unit in the Triber. This engine develops 100PS/160Nm and is present in various Renault cars in international markets. Both variants of the Triber will be showcased at Auto Expo 2020 and are likely to be launched later in the year.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class Marco Polo (Rs 1.20 crore, expected):

Mercedes-Benz India will launch the V-Class Marco Polo at Auto Expo 2020. Globally, the Marco Polo is offered in two specifications: 4- and 5-seaters. Other highlights include a kitchenette complete with a stove, mini-refrigerator, foldout table, inlet for water, and an auxiliary power plug. Quite a house on wheels, eh! The V-Class Marco Polo is expected to come with a 2.0-litre BS6-compliant diesel engine that develops 163PS and 380Nm. For a closer look at the house on wheels, head here.
Yes, we’ll be seeing only three new MPVs at Auto Expo 2020. That said, all three of them offer a different flavour and charm of their own. Stay tuned to ZigWheels as we’ll be bringing you the latest updates from Auto Expo 2020.
